We do not have a complete price for the pilgrimage yet but plan for $3,000-$3,500.00 a person. We hope to have a more definitive price in the next month or two. Please do go on to the WYD Madrid website below to learn more about the pilgrimage.
Our pilgrimage will especially be geared to young adults though teens age 16 and up and their adult chaperones may attend. It is our hope that this pilgrimage will give each person an opportunity to experience the universal Catholic Church and to experience the faith of the families and youth, young adults we meet in Spain.

In less than 6 weeks, Catholic Charities will be moving to their new home! In preparation for the move, they are doing everything feasible to not interrupt service deliver to those who need it most. As such, they need a lot of help boxing, packing, and setting up before their move date. Diocean Contact Phone List
The Council is putting together a master list of a young adult information contact for all 70+ parishes in the Diocese. We need volunteers to make phone calls to the parishes. If you’d like to help, please contact Kevin Prevou, and he’ll send you a list and a script.

Social Justice Conference
On January 23, 2010, the Young Adult Council will be hosting the first annual Social Justice Conference in Arlington, Texas. The service and justice team will need many people to help out with the event! If you are interested in helping out, send a note to Brittany Caldwell.

Enjoy a relaxing weekend get away with other young adults of all ages. Disciples Crossing is a beautiful retreat center in East, Texas. There will be motivating and inspiring talks, opportunities to reflect with others, opportunities to socialize and meet new people, time for prayer and reflection, celebration of the sacraments, and a Halloween social on Saturday night.

Monica Ashour
Monica Ashour will be giving three talks: What is Christianity and Why Conversion; Knowing Thyself Leads to Conversion and How Do We Live the Life Back in Reality?
Monica Ashour is the Executive Director of TOBET, the Theology of the Body Evangelization Team. Miss Ashour holds two Masters from the University of Dallas, one in Theological Studies and one in Humanities. She is working with Christopher West for the TOB Institute.

Julie Muller
Julie Muller will share with us her personal story of conversion and how it has led her to Christ.
Julie completed her undergraduate degree in philosophy from Ave Maria College as well as her master’s degree from the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family Studies in Melbourne, Australia. She has come to discover that the Church offers answers that are positive, attractive, loving and real.

Franciscan Friars Speaker & Celebrant of the Sacraments
The TOR’s, or Franciscan Friars will join us to celebrate the Eucharist, give the sacrament of reconciliation and give a talk. We will have adoration of the Blessed Sacrament as well. The Friars live in Fort Worth where they work with the poor and spread the good news of Christ. They carry a spirit with them that radiates the pure love of our Lord. The Friars will give a talk entitled: Jesus Christ; How Do We Follow?

Here is some background information on the 40 Days for Life and the upcoming campaign in Fort Worth.

The 40 Days for Life is a 40-day, peaceful, prayer campaign focused on bringing about an end to abortion through prayer. The 40 Days for Life began in Bryan / College Station, TX in 2004, and in a short 5 years it has grown to over 200 cities with more than 215,000 volunteers participating. There are 3 key components of the campaign; prayer and fasting, community outreach, and the Prayer Vigil. We ask people to pray and to fast throughout the 40 days. The type of prayer and fasting is left up to the individual and can be done at home. It can as simple as one short prayer each day, or fasting from something important to you as a sacrifice. The community outreach part of the campaign is done in order to increase the awareness of abortion in our own community. We reach out to Churches of all faiths, as well as placing flyers out in public places. All of this is done in order to increase the awareness of the issue of abortion in our own community.

The largest and most important part of the campaign is the constant, 40-day, round-the-clock, peaceful, Prayer Vigil that we keep on the sidewalk across from the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic at 301 South Henderson Street in Fort Worth, TX. We keep a constant, peaceful, prayer presence there at the abortion clinic throughout the entire 40 days, both day and night. This is a powerful witness to our community as we stand in peaceful, public prayer. We are looking for additional prayer volunteers for the Prayer Vigil, and we need your help! The 40 Days for Life begins September 23rd and continues through November 1st. Throughout the bible, God has used 40 days or 40 years to transform His people, and with your help, we will pray that He transforms the hearts of His people here in our own community. Please join us in prayer as we pray for an end to abortion. The 40 Days for Life is an opportunity for everyone who is interested in being a part of the pro-life movement to be involved. The big box of school supplies collected at the event will be going to Fort Worth ISD who will distribute the items to local children whose families do not have the means to give the children the items necessary for the school year.
